Rehabilitation, reforestation, and enhancement activities are continuously implemented in the mine site to ensure environmental protection and sustainability for future generations.
Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programs
EPEP showcases the activities and financial commitments of the company to ensure the environmental protection of the mining areas and adjacent environs. Activities include land, water quality, air quality protection, research, conservation values, and monitoring activities.
Land, Water, and Air Protection
Land activities include rehabilitation, reforestation, nursery operations, vermicast production, and buffer zone management. Water and air protection activities involve constructing and maintaining pollution control structures such as settling ponds, silt curtains, silt traps, operationalizing drag flow machines, waste management including hazardous waste, and monitoring water and air quality.
Research and Conservation Values
For C.Y. 2021, the company conducted four (4) research projects. These include bamboo propagation via clonal nursery, arboretum, artificial coral reef, and lapnisan propagation in mined-out areas. Conservation values focus on activities worth preserving for the good of the community that involves coastal management, the establishment of gulayan sa minahan, donation to the regional wildlife rescue center, flora and fauna, environmental audit, and marine assessment.
Monitoring Activities
Monitoring from both in-house and government agencies is conducted regularly to ensure compliance with government mandates and the Integrated Management Standards of the company.
